USD43.8mln worth of Ethiopian projects signed off in Changsha -- On January 18, the contracts of five projects worth a total of 43.8 million U.S. dollars were signed off during a promotional event in Changsha County. The five projects will be directly related to Ethiopia-Hunan Machinery and Equipment Manufacturing Industrial Park that is set to begin operations later this year. (Source: China Daily)

Chinese enterprise builds world's largest single-unit solar power plant in Morocco -- Power Construction Corporation of China, one of the country’s largest hydro and thermal power project providers, said via its WeChat account that it ha completed the second phase of a solar plant with world’s largest single-unit capacity in Morocco. The second phase of the project will have an installed capacity of 200 megawatts, and the whole solar plant will have a total installed capacity of 510 megawatts once it is completely finished.

New China-Europe freight train route launched -- A China-Europe freight train carrying 36 containers of auto parts, engineering equipment, and daily necessities left Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Jan. 19. The train will travel through Xinjiang's Alataw Pass and stop at a port in Kazakhstan where the containers will be transferred to ships which are bound for Baku, capital of Azerbaijan.

China teams up with U.S. firms to build aviation navigation database -- China's top aviation regulator partnered with U.S. companies on January 24 to develop the country's aviation navigation database. The air traffic management bureau with the Civil Aviation Administration of China inked a cooperation agreement with U.S. aviation solutions provider Jeppesen and industrial giant Honeywell to make a sound database for aviation navigation.

China-Europe trains connect Xinjiang to world China -- Europe freight trains that set off from Urumqi, capital of Northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, made a total of 1,164 trips as of the end of 2017. Urumqi, which saw the start of the first China-Europe train in May 2016, now launches three such trains on a daily basis. The trains can reach five Central Asian countries and 17 European countries.

African Development Bank office building built by CGCOC Nigeria goes into use -- The inaugural ceremony of the office building of African Development Bank constructed by CGCOC Nigeria was held in Abuja, capital of Nigeria on January 18, according to a report by People's Daily. The office building is located in Abuja Central Business District. With a total building cost of 13.36 million U.S. dollars and a construction period of 21 months, the project broke ground in December 2015 and was completed in September 2017.

Chinese technology helps Cuba build largest wind farm -- Cuba aims to become one of the more than 100 countries that will meet their energy demands with renewable sources like wind, water or sunlight by 2050, as experts predict. One of the key projects currently under construction is a vast complex consisting of two wind farms, La Herradura 1 and La Herradura 2, located in the province of Las Tunas, some 600 km east of Havana. Behind the complex is Chinese technology, according to Adela Alvarez, an official at Cuba's Integrated Wind Energy Management Company.

Chinese culture center to open in Vietnam in 2019 -- A Chinese culture center will open in Hanoi, Vietnam in 2019. The Chinese government-backed facility will host sports and cultural competitions, shows and seminars to promote the country's culture, according to Huang Yu, director of the cultural department of south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Construction of China-UAE trade center starts in east China -- The construction of China-UAE International Trade Center has started in east China's Jiangsu Province. Construction of the first phase project, with an investment of 45 million U.S. dollars, began on January 18 in Huai'an Economic & Technological Development Zone. The complex is due for topping off in June 2019, and the project is expected to be put into use in the second half of 2019.

Direct flight to link Shenzhen, Brussels -- Hainan Airlines will launch a direct flight connecting China's southern city of Shenzhen with the Belgian capital, Brussels. Starting March 20, flights will leave Shenzhen for Brussels every Tuesday and Thursday. The route will be operated by Boeing 787.
