BEIJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- China saw over 598 million exits and entries across the border in 2017, a 4.76-percent increase from 2016, the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) said Wednesday.
According to the Bureau of Exit and Entry Administration of the MPS, 292 million of the trips were made by Chinese mainland citizens, while foreign citizens made about 58.36 million entries and exits.
Residents of the Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan made 221 million trips to and out of the Chinese mainland over the year.
More than 30.97 million vehicles and carriers were involved in the 598 million trips, up 6.84 percent from the previous year, including 29.52 million motor vehicles.
Some 925,700 planes, 60,000 trains and 466,300 ships also made trips, according to the bureau.
