BEIJING, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- China recently released the meteorological development plan under the Belt and Road (from 2017 to 2025) to strengthen the cooperation and exchanges in the field of meteorology among the countries along the Belt and Road, and give full play to the important role of meteorology in supporting the Belt and Road construction.

Under the plan, on land, China would provide meteorological services to key economic and trade industrial parks with the support of the key cities along the Belt and Road, and offer meteorological guarantees for international economic cooperation corridors including New Eurasian Land Bridge, China-Mongolia-Russia Economic Corridor, China-Central and Western Asia Economic Corridor and China-Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor.

At sea, with the key ports as nodes, China will provide outstanding meteorological services to guarantee smooth, safe and high-efficiency transportation channels, and boost the capacity of China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and Bangladesh-China-India-Myanmar Economic Corridor in the disaster prevention and mitigation, and the public service.

By 2025, China will basically perfect the comprehensive meteorological observation system for Belt and Road construction, widely apply satellite technology and basically build up observation station network in key regions along the Belt and Road, said the plan.
