DOHA, Jan. 2 (Xinhua) -- Qatar Post (Q-Post) and Turkish Post (PTT) have launched the first e-commerce platform ''Turkish Souq'' for Qatari residents, local media reported Tuesday morning.
The ''Turkish Souq'' will provide access to up to 5 million Turkish products, Qatar's Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim bin Saif Al Sulaiti said.
He added that the e-commerce volume in Qatar is currently 4 billion Qatari Riyals (QR) and it may raise up to QR 10 billion by 2020.
Qatar and Turkey are strategic trading partners, and this trade ties have grown as a result of the blockade imposed by its neighbors, as Turkey sided with Qatar since Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain, and Egypt severed diplomatic ties with Doha on June 5.
The four countries have also imposed a series of economic sanctions against Doha, accusing it of funding terrorism, but Qatar denies the claims.
Turkishsouq.qa offers an international shopping and shipping service directly from Turkey to customers' doorsteps in Qatar.
