NANJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The International Green Energy Development Conference was held in Yangzhong, Jiangsu Province, from September 15 to 16, 2017. The conference, themed “Green Energy Development in China and Yangzhong’s Practices”, showcased the latest technologies and products of new energy.

The conference also presented achievements of China’s high-proportion new energy demonstration cities and discussed innovative development of green energy.

As one of the four high-proportion new energy demonstration cities approved by the National Energy Administration, Yangzhong saw a year-on-year increase of 39.73 percent in the use of non-fossil energy and 18 percent in the green energy utilization rate in 2016.

Pan Zaoyun, Party Secretary of Yangzhong, said at the conference that Yangzhong paid close attention to green development and as a result, green development has become the undertone of the city.

“Yangzhong's green industry started early and developed rapidly. It has become one of Yangzhong's three leading industries. In addition, Yangzhong has accomplished the integration of the intelligent electrical industry with the new energy industry,” said Pan.

China has showed its resolve and capability to push forward the development of renewable energy, said Liang Zhipeng, Vice Director of the New Energy and Renewable Energy Department of the National Energy Administration.

China’s installed capacity of renewable energy-fueled power generation units had reached 620 million kilowatts by the end of July, accounting for 35 percent of China’s total installed power generation capacity, according to Liang.

China Economic Information Service (CEIS) will give a full play of its own advantage to promote green energy application and development in China and around the world, said Kuang Lecheng, vice president of CEIS, the main market entity of economic information business of Xinhua News Agency, which co-hosted the conference.

Kuang noted that the world has reached the consensus to develop green energy. Currently, China’s enterprises in new energy industry are proactively exploring overseas market, and foreign green energy companies are vying to seize a place in the fast developing Chinese market.

In addition, Shi Zhengrong, a forerunner of China’s solar PV industry, Professor Martin Green from The University of New South Wales, Yang Lei, senior advisor of the International Energy Agency, Li Junfeng, former director of the National Center for Climate Change Strategy and International Cooperation, Bill Ludwig, Mayor of Livingstone, Queensland of Australia and etc., delivered speeches at the conference.

Some 400 experts, scholars and representatives of key enterprises from home and abroad also attended the conference.

As an important event of the conference, CEIS published the Annual Report on Global Green Energy Application and Development (2016-2017).

The report provided insights into new features, trends and opportunities of the global green energy development and application and put forward specific measures and suggestions for accelerating green energy application in China.

The conference was jointly held by CEIS and the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, organized by the Yangzhong Municipal Government, the CEIS Xinhua Silk Road Information Department and the CEIS Jiangsu Center, and co-organized by the Renewable Energy Committee of the China Energy Research Society.
