GUANGZHOU, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) – Projects under the Belt and Road Initiative provides opportunities not only for the neighbors of China in Asia but also for European economies, according to Bernard Dewit, Chairman of Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCECC).
Dewit made the comments during a speech at “The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road” Forum on International Communication and Chinese (Guangdong) Companies Going Global, held in Zhuhai, a coastal city in South China's Guangdong province on Wednesday.
The Belt and Road Initiative has already been a boost on EU-China economic and trade exchanges, said Dewit, adding that China and the EU have established a connectivity platform, from which cooperation in areas such as railways, ports, airports, power, transportation and logistics has gained momentum.
China is now one of the shareholders of the European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD). Many EU member states are partners of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), which was set up to address needs for infrastructure investment in Asia.
