Chinese phone maker launches new F5 series smartphone in Kenya -- Chinese phone marker OPPO on November 20 launched the new F5 series smartphone across its stores in Kenya. OPPO Kenya CEO Andrew Peng told journalists in Nairobi that the device is OPPO's first full HD phone with a full screen display in Kenya.

Biggest Dubai free zone DMCC partners with Chinese firms for coffee trade -- Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), the biggest industry free zone in the emirate, said on November 19 in an emailed statement the development of a 7,500 square meters DMCC Coffee Centre, close to Jebel Ali Port harbour, is underway marked by a ground-breaking ceremony attended by China's Mega Capital Halal (MCH) and Yunnan State Farms Group.

Beijing's 2022 Winter Olympics host district opens construction bidding -- Suburban Beijing's Yanqing district, home to Xiaohaituo Mountain, one of the host sites for the 2022 Winter Olympics, launched bidding for sports venue construction on November 17. The venues open for bidding are the Olympic Village and mountain media center, as well as the transformation and operation of the Yanqing Olympic venue cluster after the games conclude.

6,000+ China-Europe freight trains dispatched, 3,000+ dispatched in year to date -- More than 6,000 China-Europe freight trains have been dispatched since the dispatch of the first one in 2011, according to a source with China Railway Corporation (CRC). More than 3,000 such trains had been dispatched in 2017 as of November 11, achieving a new annual high in number and being in excess of the total dispatched during 2011-2016.

UnionPay cards to be issued in Europe -- UnionPay International, a subsidiary of China's UnionPay, the country's largest bank card payment processor, announced on November 20 that it has entered into strategic cooperation with the Portuguese bank, Banco Comercial Portugues (BCP). BCP will be the first European bank to issue UnionPay cards. UnionPay is used in 160 countries and regions and cards are issued in over 40 countries and regions, said Wang Lixin, deputy president of UnionPay International.

Cargo train services launched between Hamburg, central China's Yichang -- Cargo train services have been launched between Yichang in central China's Hubei Province, and Hamburg, Germany. A train carrying fresh oranges, medical gauze and packaging film departed from Yichang East Railway Station on morning of November 20, marking inauguration of the service. The train will run through the provincial capital of Wuhan, and travel to Hamburg via Russia, Belarus and Poland, said Zhou Chigang from the Wuhan branch of the National Railway Administration.

Tencent becomes Asia's most valuable company -- Chinese internet giant Tencent has become Asia's most valuable company with its shares closing at record high on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on November 20. Shares of Tencent closed at 420 HK dollars per share, which puts its market value at 510.7 billion U.S. dollars. It became the sixth ranking company in market value in the world, the company said. Tencent is also the first Asian company to beat the 500 billion-dollar mark, it said.

Crete and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region sign collaboration agreement -- The Region of Crete and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region signed an agreement setting out the terms for collaboration in the sectors of economy, trade and tourism. Members of the Chinese delegation visiting Crete were briefed on the region's products and the development of tourism from China to Crete and Greece in general.

Baidu to see small-scale production of driverless vehicles -- Baidu plans to launch "small-scale production" of fully autonomous mini-buses in July of next year, according to Robin Li, CEO of the Chinese tech giant. Baidu also plans to launch self-driving car models in cooperation with manufacturers JAC Motors and Beijing Automotive Industry Corp, Li said during the company's annual technology conference.
