CAIRO, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- EgyptAir, the flag carrier airline of Egypt, has signed a letter of intent for buying 24 CSeries aircraft from the Canadian aircraft maker Bombardier for a total price of nearly 2.2 U.S. billion dollars, EgyptAir said in a statement on Tuesday.
"EgyptAir has signed a letter of intent for 12 CS300 aircraft, and will take options on a further 12," the statement added.
The deal was inked at the ongoing Dubai Airshow.
Bombardier and EgyptAir said they hoped to finalize the deal before the end of 2017, the statement added.
"We undertook a thorough evaluation process of our fleet and realized that the CS300 would fit perfectly into our business plans and growth strategy," EgyptAir's chairman Safwat Musallam said.
He added that the new partnership with Bombardier emphasized the future vision for the Middle East and Africa, and will fulfill the market demands. Enditem
