Angola Cables joins Microsoft for digital transformation in Africa

November 09, 2017

Abstract : Angola Cables has partnered with Microsoft to offer cloud solutions, becoming a Microsoft ExpressRoute partner, capable of meeting the needs of organizations in the African continent.

LUANDA, Nov. 8 (Xinhua) -- Angola Cables has partnered with Microsoft to offer cloud solutions, becoming a Microsoft ExpressRoute partner, capable of meeting the needs of organizations in the African continent.

According to a note from the Angola Cables disclosed Wednesday in Luanda, these services aim to provide optimized conditions for companies to migrate their business applications and IT infrastructures to the cloud, which is expected to accelerate digital transformation on the continent.

By using the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, Angola Cables has created the ACloud Connect to provide dedicated, high-quality connections to a worldwide network of 42 Azure regions offered by Microsoft and connectivity with the Angola Cables' Angonap data center located in Luanda.

According to the document, as one of the most reliable and flexible enterprise-level cloud computing platforms in the world, Azure enables organizations to obtain local networks with a private connection.

"We see ACloud Connect as a natural extension of our customers' own IT infrastructures," said Antonio Nunes, CEO of Angola Cables.

"In addition to benefiting from the scale and economy of Microsoft Azure, customers based in Africa will also have low latency services," the note said.

Complementing NAPAfrica in South Africa, which offers peering across sub-Saharan Africa, the Azure cloud platform will help protect organizations' online assets as they seek to expand globally while maintaining "data residency" on the African continent. Enditem
