Chinese bus maker Yutong launches new vehicles in Cuba -- Chinese bus maker Yutong on October 31 presented to the Cuban market new models of buses, generating great expectations among locals and government officials at the 35th Havana International Trade Fair, the island's most important business event. Dozens of people attending the fair, Yutong and Cuban government officials participated in the unveiling of the vehicles, which will soon be used in Havana to transport foreign visitors.

Xinjiang dispatches first China-Ukraine train -- Train X9081 left the China-Europe Urumqi Terminal on Oct 29 on its way to the eastern Ukrainian city of Poltava with a load of oil-well drilling equipment. It was the first China-Europe train dispatched to Ukraine from Xinjiang.

The train will transit the Alataw Pass and reach Poltava by way of Kazakhstan and Russia after some 15 days.

China launches direct air routes to 43 B&R countries -- China has launched direct air routes to 43 countries along the Belt and Road (B&R) as of May 2017. Around 84 percent of Chinese provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities now have flights to these countries, according to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC). On October 27, the CAAC announced that 2017/2018 Winter and Spring Flight Plan would be in effect from October 29, 2017 to March 24, 2018. In the new aviation season, Chinese airlines will launch 95 international routes to the countries and regions along the B&R, covering Eastern Europe, Central Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia and the Southern Pacific.

China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan land transportation begins trial operations -- A launch ceremony was held to initiate the trial run of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan land transportation route in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan on October 30. The line starts in Tashkent, passes Osh, Kyrgyzstan and ends in Kashgar, Xinjiang province, China. It has a length of some 900 kilometers, 390 of which are in Uzbekistan, 260 in Kyrgyzstan and 250 in China. The three countries each supplied three freight carriers for the trial run.

Draft e-commerce law highlights safe trade, consumer rights -- The latest draft law on e-commerce, submitted for the second reading on October 31, further clarifies liabilities of e-commerce operators and punishment over infringement of consumer rights. The bill, submitted at a six-day bimonthly session of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, classifies e-commerce operators into three entities: "those doing business on their own websites, e-commerce platform operators, and stores on e-commerce platforms."

Alibaba Cloud to cover Malaysia -- Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, announced on October 30 it would officially open its services in Malaysia, as the internet giant speeds up its overseas expansion in not only e-commerce but also internet infrastructure. The company's landing in Malaysia helps it to become the first international cloud service provider to offer cloud computing services in the country and to top Southeast Asia with the widest infrastructure coverage. China to become top destination of LatAm exports in 2017: ECLAC -- China will become the leading destination for exports from Latin America and the Caribbean in 2017, with growth of 23 percent this year, according to a new report by the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). ECLAC's executive secretary, Alicia Barcena, unveiled the annual report on the region's trade on October 30 in Santiago and said that exports would bounce back by 10 percent in 2017, after five years of slowdown.
