HANOI, Oct. 31 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's national index of industrial production in the first 10 months of 2017 increased 8.7 percent on-year, according to the country's General Statistics Office on Tuesday.
Main driver of the growth, the processing and manufacturing sector, went up 13.6 percent, contributing 9.6 percentage points to the overall growth. However, inventory ratio of this sector remained high, averaging at 65.6 percent in the first nine months of this year.
Regarding main industrial products, television sets witnessed the largest output expansion of 30.9 percent on-year, while raw steel and iron up 28.4 percent and urea fertilizer up 15.7 percent.
By contrast, outputs of liquefied petroleum gas went down 10.2 percent, automobiles down 8.3 percent and natural gas down 8 percent over the 10-month period.
In October, the national industrial production index advanced 17 percent against October 2016.
