BEIRUT, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Prime Minister Saad Hariri said Tuesday that Lebanon and Australia will look to increase economic and trade ties, following a meeting with visiting Australia Governor Sir Peter Cosgrove.
According to a statement from Hariri's media office, Hariri welcomed Cosgrove and his accompanying delegation to the Grand Serail in an official reception before the two held closed-door talks.
"They discussed regional and international developments as well as the Syrian crisis and its negative effects on Lebanese, especially the Syrian refugee crisis," the statement said.
The Australian official met with President Michel Aoun Monday where the two discussed the ongoing refugee crisis and the need for refugees to return to their country.
Cosgrove and his wife Lady Lynn Cosgrove arrived in Lebanon Sunday for a three-day visit.
