Subway cars for Boston orange line roll off Chinese production line -- The first China-made subway cars tailored for Boston's orange line rolled off the production line on October 16 in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province. The subway cars, which will be delivered to the United States in December, are among a 284-carriage order signed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in December 2014.

Ethiopian Airlines mulling flights to Hangzhou as 6th Chinese destination -- Ethiopia's national air carrier Ethiopian Airlines (ET) is mulling flights to the eastern Chinese city of Hangzhou. Tewolde Gebremariam, CEO of ET, told Xinhua on October 15 the air carrier is mulling Hangzhou as its next destination as part of its plan to attract more Chinese tourists and business people.

Zunyi-Pattaya direct air route to open -- A direct air route linking southwest China's Zunyi City and the Thai coastal resort of Pattaya will open on October 20, local authorities said on October 12. Zunyi Airport said the air route is operated by Nok Air of Thailand, using Boeing 737-800 aircraft.  Two round trips are scheduled every week on Friday and Sunday.

Chinese company signs deals to modernize highways in Ukraine -- The private Chinese company Xinjiang Communications Construction Group Co Ltd has signed two agreements with Ukraine's state road agency Ukravtodor on the modernization of state highways in western and central Ukraine. The deals worth $95 million were signed in Ukraine's Infrastructure Ministry by Shen Jinsheng, chairman of the Xinjiang Communications Construction Group, and Slavomir Novak, an acting head of the Ukravtodor. Both projects, financed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), are set to be launched in 2018.

Dubai, China aim to boost high-tech cooperation with launch of giant project -- Dubai developer Meraas Holding and two major Chinese companies on October 17 launched "Tech Town," a giant project aiming to boost cooperation on developing digital and artificial intelligence technologies. The giant project was launched on day two of the ongoing Dubai Investment Week by Meraas with China's Alibaba Group and China Financing and Investment Property Corporation (CFIPC).

Container train from China reaches Freeport of Riga -- A container train, which left western China at the end of September, arrived in the Latvian capital city Riga on October 16, local media reported. The train delivering 41 containers with food supplements from China to Western Europe left the Chinese city of Urumqi, the capital city of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Sept. 29.

New direct flight linking Yinchuan, Pattaya opens -- A new direct air route linking Yinchuan, capital of northwest China's Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, with Pattaya, a resort city in Thailand, opened on October 14. It is the first regular direct flight between the two cities.

Singapore subway construction contract awarded to CTG -- The Land Transport Authority of Singapore has recently awarded the contract of Circle Line 6 Prince Edward Station and its associated tunnels to China Railway Tunnel Group(CTG), with a total value of more than 310 million Singapore dollars (about 1.5 billion yuan), according to the People's Daily quoted local media in Singapore. The project is expected to start from the end of 2017 and be completed in 2025.

Powerchina wins Ain-Sokhna zero fuel oil refinery project -- Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina) has recently signed the Ain-Sokhna zero fuel oil refinery project with Sokhna Refinery & Petrochemicals Company. Located in Sokhna, Egypt, the project, with refining capacity of 155,000 barrels per day in the first phase, will improve Egypt’s industrial structure and improve its oil refining capacity, besides boosting foreign exchange after its completion. The project is the largest overseas petroleum refining EPC project undertaken by PowerChina.
