BEIJING, Apr. 7 (Xinhua) -- China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) and the Ministry of Equipment and Transport of Mali recently signed a contract for a 165-kilometer road project.
The road starts from Kayes in Mali to the border of Mauritania and the contract value is 1.1028 billion yuan (about 159 million U.S. dollars).
The project includes construction of the road, earthwork, drainage system, signaling system, environmental protection work as well as bitumen sealing, layout of parking areas and all facilitating work needed in the project.
The road is part of the African road network. The road will further complete the network and enhance Mali’s relations with other nations of the African Union and the Economic Community of West African States to boost regional industry development and Mali’s economic growth.
Meanwhile, the project is jointly initiated by Malian government and Mauritanian government and will benefit the triangle trade relation among Mali, Mauritania and Senegal. (Edited by Yang Qi, kateqiyang@xinhua.org)
