BEIJING, Feb. 21 (Xinhua) -- China’s HNA Group, a conglomerate headquartered in Haikou, capital of south China’s Hainan province, has become one of the major shareholders of Deutsche Bank after it bought a 3.04 percent stake in the German lender for over 700 million euros (about 740.7 million U.S. dollars).
HNA Group did not rule out further increasing its interest in Deutsche Bank, the biggest commercial bank of Germany, but had no intention to hold over 10 percent, a spokesman for HNA Group said.
Deutsche Bank said it welcomed any investor with a long-term view.
Founded in 1993, HNA Group has evolved from a regional airline into a global company encompassing core divisions of aviation, hotels, finance, logistics and ecological technology. Enditem (Edited by Yang Yifan, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
