BEIJING, Dec. 8 (Xihua) -- Chongqing Mayor Huang Qifan recently held talks with visiting Mayor of Dusseldorf, Germany Thomas Geisel, suggesting both cities further strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of logistics, tourism and culture with the help of the Chongqing-Europe(Yuxinou) freight train service.
The cooperation between Chongqing and Dusseldorf, both inland cities, enjoys broad areas and has produced fruitful results as thetwo cities have similar development paths in recent years, Huang said. Chongqing also hopes to carry out extensive cooperation with Dusseldorf in health care, education, urban planning and construction, he said.
The Yuxinou railway, which stretches from Chongqing to Duisburg, Germany, plays an important role in boosting trade between China and Germany, Thomas Geisel said. He added the cargo train service still has great potential for improving transportation capacity from Europe to China.
Thomas Geisel said Dusseldorf hopes to increase dialogue in economy, trade, and culture with Chongqing as the Chinese city witnessed rapid economic growth with huge development potential.
