It's reported a Chinese firm is planning to mass produce an amphibious drone, the first commercial drone to be able to take off and land on water.
America's Cable News Network (CNN) quotes a spokesperson of the Shanghai-based UVS Intelligence System, U650, as saying the company's amphibious drone will roll off the production line by the end of this year at its Shanghai plant.
The 6.1-meter-long drone could stay in the air for up to 15 hours, with a maximum flying distance of 2000 kilometers. It would be able to carry about 250-kg of cargo and could be available for civil use to deliver packages as well as military use to carry out surveillance and deliver supplies.
