JAKARTA, April 5 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia has planned to initiate a forum to facilitate the growing halal tourism by establishing Global Halal Travel Consortium (GHTC), an official said here Wednesday.
GHTC aims at tapping huge potential from halal traveling to boost national tourism, Riyanto Sofyan, head of a task force team to expand halal tourism at the tourism ministry said.
The establishment of GHTC was intended to train halal travel sales force, organize halal tour packages and promote cross selling of halal tour packages, according to the official.
The GHTC was eventually expected to contribute to the nation's efforts in attracting foreign visitors, particularly from halal tour, he said.
Riyanto said GHTC's initial meeting would be held during the upcoming Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) event slated for Thursday. Enditem
