HANOI, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Nearly 1,000 Mercedes-Benz automobiles in Vietnam are likely to be recalled in July 2017 for fear of fire at the starting current limiter, said the German luxury carmaker on Wednesday.
According to the latest statement by the Mercedes-Benz, in some auto models of C-Class, E-Class, GLC and GLA, in certain cases, the starting current limiter may overheat from the repeated attempts of the starter motor attempting to start the vehicle.
If the starting current limiter overheats, the surrounding components can melt, increasing the risk of a fire.
Despite recording no injuries concerning the issue, Mercedes-Benz will still install an additional fuse in the electrical line to the starter, free of charge.
At the same time, the manufacturing section of Mercedes-Benz Vietnam has implemented improvement measures for these car types in production line.
The recall will be officially noticed to local authorities and customers in July 2017, when parts to remedy the vehicles are available, said the statement. Enditem
