BEIJING, Jan.5 (Xinhua) -- China Three Gorges Corporation invested 3.1 billion Brazilian Real (about 968million U.S. dollars) to purchase a hydropower station with installed capacity at 2 GW in St . Paul, Brazil.
The stake was bought from Duke Energy.
Whereafter, China Three Gorges Corporation sold one third of stakes in the hydropower station to China-Latin America Cooperation Fund, which was still the controlling shareholder of the hydropower station.
After the acquisition, China Three Gorges Corporation will become the second largest power generation enterprise in Brazil, followed by ELETROBRAS. Enditem (Edited by Ma Xin, maxin11@xinhua.org)
