SEPCOIII signed an EPC contract for the Lucky 660 MW coal-fired power plant with its owner Lucky Electric Power Electric Co., Ltd. on Dec. 23, 2016.
The project, located at Port Qasim in Karachi of Sindh province, Pakistan, will utilize by 100 percent Thar coal for fuel and a 660 MW coal-fired generating set will be established, using super critical tower boiler.
It is the third large thermal power project won by SEPCOIII in Pakistan, following the Port Qasim project and Haveli Bahadur Shah project.
SEPCOIII entered the Pakistan market since 2013 and under the Belt and Road Initiative and China Pakistan Economic Corridor, the company has taken up by contract value 85 percent share in its parent company Power Construction Corporation of China’s thermal power business in Pakistan and become an EPC contractor owning more undergoing projects than its peers in the country.
