China 19th Metallurgical Corporation (MCC19), affiliated to Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd. recently kicked off construction of the Namatanai highway section renovation project in Papua New Guinea.
This project, part of the Lanzerote highway upgrading program, is situated in the east coast of Namatanai city in New Ireland, Papua New Guinea.
It has a pavement width of 7 meters and a road length of 80 kilometers. Australian technical standards are adopted. The renovated highway will have an asphalt surface with a length of 7 kilometers and a width of 7 meters. The broken stones used for the first layer of pitch have a diameter of 19 millimeter, and those of the second layer have a diameter of 14 millimeter.
The Namatanai highway renovation project will not only create more employment opportunities for local residents, but also strongly promote construction and improvement of the highway network of New Ireland and foster economic development of the region.
