China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd. (CHEC) kicked off recently construction of a ferry terminal project in Soyo, a city in the northern Zaire province of Angola.
This project, expected to play an important role in connecting the Soyo city, Zaire province and the adjacent Cabinda province, mainly comprises of a 200 meter-long terminal, including two berths which maximally allow 70.3 meter-long ro-ro ships to berth and two berths maximally allowing 40 meter-long passenger ships to berth.
Apart from these, other facilities such as the waiting hall, shops, hotels, warehouses, repair factory and substation facilities will be constructed behind the terminal, and a new port inspection building will be constructed for the marine board of Soyo city.
Upon its future completion, the project will further facilitate goods import and export of Soyo city and Zaire province, satisfy relevant maritime passenger transport demands, and help promote local economic development.
