BEIJING, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- A copper-molybdenum mining and dressing plant constructed by China Nonferrous Metal Industry’s Foreign Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd. (NFC) in Kazakhstan was put into production on Dec. 6, 2016.
Located in Aktogay, east Kazakhstan, the project, which involves more than 2 billion U.S. dollars of investment, is capable of processing 25 million tonnes of copper-molybdenum ores annually and the exploitation period is 50 years.
NFC won the 559.6-million-U.S. dollar bid for the project in mid September of 2014 by Kazakhmys, which was renamed Kaz Minerals Plc from Oct. 31, 2014.
Equipped with the most advanced mining and dressing equipment in the world, the project, whose construction began on Sept. 12, 2014 and lasted for 25 months, has created over 1,500 jobs for local people, according to the Kazakhstan company.
Completion of the copper-molybdenum mine, one of the biggest in the world, is expected to significantly boost the local economic development, said the company. Enditem (Edited by Duan Jing, duanjing@xinhua.org)
