BEIJING, Dec. 19 (Xinhua) -- A transformer substation constructed by Union Resources & Engineering Co., Ltd. (UREC) was commissioned in Myanmar’s University of Yangon, on Dec. 1.
The substation is the first of the 30 urban power distribution network substations to be built in Myanmar with funds from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). UREC won the contract to build the the project in 2015 through a global competitive bidding process.
The project is aimed at improving power supply in major cities including Yangon, Mandalay, Magway, and Sagaing. Enditem (Edited by Li Xiaohui, lixh@xinhua.org)
