China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. (CNEEC), an EPC contractor for the Sri Lanka Broadlands Hydropower Station project, completed river dike closure and drainage of the diversion tunnel for the project recently.
Situated at the converging point of two major upstream tributaries of the Kelani River in Sri Lanka, the run-of-river hydropower station is designed to have an installed capacity of 2×17.5MW.
The successful river closure was done one month ahead of schedule, which, as an important step of the project construction, making the future handover of the hydropower station as early as possible.
