BEIJING, Aug. 21 (Xinhua) -- President of Xinhua News Agency Cai Mingzhao and his Associated Press (AP) counterpart Gary Pruitt discussed possible cooperation in media technology and innovation in Beijing Monday.
The development of new media has brought significant impacts to the traditional media industry, said Cai, noting that both Xinhua and AP should adapt to changes.
Cai briefed Pruitt on Xinhua's progress in big data technology, short video clips and financial information services, calling on the two news outlets to deepen cooperation in developing new technologies tailored for media industry.
Calling wire service a challenging business, Pruitt said AP and Xinhua are partners who try to help each other.
He said AP is experimenting with automated video and is creating a new service made up entirely of user-generated video content.
Xinhua has put a lot of effort into developing video services, Cai said, expressing the hope that the two agencies can strengthen cooperation in video production and sales.
