Chinese to make more driving tours in France

March 01, 2017

Abstract : More Chinese are set to go on more road trips in France, after China and the country signed a reciprocal driving license agreement last week, according to a popular online Chinese travel agency on Tuesday.

SHANGHAI, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- More Chinese are set to go on more road trips in France, after China and the country signed a reciprocal driving license agreement last week, according to a popular online Chinese travel agency on Tuesday.

Under the agreement, China and France will allow holders of driving licenses issued in either country to drive directly or obtain driving permits without an additional test.

The agreement will benefit Chinese who work, study and travel in France and more are expecting to choose driving tours in the future, according to a report by Ctrip, an online Chinese travel agency.

The deal would also prompt Chinese and French travel agencies to diversify their travel products, it said.

The amount of driving tours Chinese people made abroad increased by 300 percent year-on-year in 2016, according to online travel agency Lvmama. The United States, Australia and New Zealand were the top three destinations for such tours.

"Compared with group tours, driving tours allow more open schedules and they also help tourists learn more about the destinations and their people," Lvmama said.

Previously, China has reached reciprocal driving license agreements with Belgium and the United Arab Emirates.
