KABUL, Feb. 22 (Xinhua) -- China has donated teaching and learning equipment to Kabul University, in the latest move to further boost educational and cultural ties with the Afghan educational institutions.
At a handover ceremony held in Kabul University on Wednesday, Professor Hamidullah Farooqi, president of Kabul University expressed his gratitude to China for its cooperation with the Afghan educational societies and the government of Afghanistan.
"On behalf of the Kabul University's teachers and students, the government and people of Afghanistan, I express my heartfelt thanks to the People's Republic of China over its recent assistance to Kabul University," Farooqi, who is also the advisor to Afghan president in higher education affairs, told the ceremony.
Among the equipment were laptop and desktop computers, microscopes, UPS (uninterruptible power supply) machines, projectors, printers and stationery.
Speaking on the occasion, Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Yao Jing expressed his sincere wish of lasting peace and prosperity for Afghanistan and hoped that the assistance provided by China could benefit Afghan students.
China and Afghanistan have both enjoyed a peaceful neighborhood since ancient times, ambassador Yao said, adding that China will continue to be Afghanistan's friend and it will continue to be Afghans partner.
