KIEV, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- More than 2,400 schools across Ukraine have received 23,500 of new computers from the Chinese government, Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman said on late Tuesday.
"It is a real New Year present for the Ukrainian schools," Groysman wrote on Facebook.
He said that the Chinese contribution, which enables establishing computer classes in the educational establishments, plays a vital role in developing school education in Ukraine.
The assistance will allow Ukrainian teachers not only to teach students how to use modern computers, but also to introduce coding and programming lessons into the school curricula.
The donation is a part of a broader contribution by China to supporting the development of education in Ukraine.
Last year, the Chinese government handed over modern educational equipment worth over 200,000 U.S. dollars to the Ukrainian authorities to establish three linguistic classrooms at Kiev Gymnasium, where about 600 students are learning Chinese.
