BEIJING, May 28 (Xinhua) – The 2017 Maonan Ethnic Minority Dragon Festival of Huanjiang autonomous county, and also the 3rd World Natural Heritage Cultural Tourism Festival was held from May 28 during the three-day Dragon Boat Festival holiday.
Themed at “World Heritage Huanjiang, Mysterious Maonan”, the annual festival will authentically show the old and mysterious culture of the Maonan ethnic group in South China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Meanwhile, dragon boat contest, "Single-Bamboo Floating" contest and dance activity will be held at the event. Travelers can also freely experience different kinds of activities during the festival.

Located in the northwest of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and at the southeast foot of the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau, Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County has a forest coverage rate of 72 percent, with two national nature reserves namely Mulun and Jiuwanshan. On June 23, 2014, Huanjiang’s karst landscape was selected to the World Natural Heritage.
The annual carnival combining traditional ethnic culture with world natural heritage promotion will show the unique beauty of Huangjiang county, aiming to introduce local tourism resources and establish international influence of Maonan ethnic minority culture, which is to boost the economic development of Huanjiang county.
