(Attendees of China-Hungary Seminar on Pragmatic Cooperation)
BEIJING, May 19 (Xinhua) -- China Economic Cooperation Center (CECC), an economic and trade promotion agency affiliated to the International Department of CPC Central Committee (IDCPC), on Friday held the China-Hungary Seminar on Pragmatic Cooperation in Beijing, with attendees from China and Hungary discussing cooperation in a wide range of areas including infrastructure, energy, aviation, culture, media and education under the Belt and Road Initiative.
H.E. Geza Szocs, Adviser to Prime Minister of Hungary, said at the seminar that Hungary would like to form a closer partnership with China by seizing the opportunities brought by the Belt and Road Initiative. Hungary looked forward to forging further cooperation with Chinese businesses on tourism, higher education, and financial sector.
Hungary is the first among the European nations that have signed a memorandum of understanding on the Belt and Road Initiative with China, and is also the first country that have established the Belt and Road working group with China. According to Hu Yanxin, president of CECC, the ties between the two countries developed rapidly in recent years and Hungary played an important role in taking a lead to join the Belt and Road initiative. CECC will continue to facilitate the pragmatic cooperation between the two countries’ enterprises through the party-to-party exchanges.
Yao Zhi, vice-president of investment and development center of Rongtong Science and Technology Industry Group (Rongtong Group), said Rongtong Group on Friday in Hebei signed investment contracts on an airport project with Mezokovesd. The project is identified as an important priority by Hungary government.
Yao said the airport, 230 kilometers away from Budapest, is near to hot springs and several universities. Once completed, the project will further promote business and cultural exchanges between the two countries.
Attendees of this seminar include business delegates led by H.E. Geza Szocs, Economic, Trade and Investment Promotion Section of the Embassy to Hungary, China Aerospace Leasing Co., Ltd., China Electronics Technology Group Corp., China Railway International Group, China Building Decoration Group, Power Construction Corp. of China, and Administrative Committee of Zhongguancun Haidian Science Park.
