BEIJING,Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- China’s retail sales of consumer goods was expected to reach 33 trillion yuan (about 4.75 trillion U.S. dollars) this year, up approximately 10.4 percent year on year, the Shanghai Securities News quoted Li Xizhen, deputy head of the Ministry of Commerce’s Department of Market Operation and Consumption Promotion, as saying on Tuesday.
Foods, automobiles, living goods and catering industry are the main driving forces for China’s consumption growth this year, Li said.
Li also noted that thanks to the country’s supply-side reform, growing middle-income groups and rapid urbanization, China’s retail sales will maintain steady and relatively fast growth in the next year. Enditem (Edited by Yang Yifan, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
