URUMQI, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- Xinjiang has the most favorable conditions and advantages to build the hub of China-Europe block trains, Peng ji, deputy director of the Economic & Informatization Commission of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region said on September 19 at the Silk Road International Logistics Summit held during the 5th China-Eurasia Expo in September 20-25.
Xinjiang was defined as a core area of the Silk Road Ecomonic Belt in 2015, and has made positive achievements in pushing related construction recently, Peng said.
Since the launch of the first Xinjiang westbound international freight block train in March, 2014, 256 trains have been started accumulatively by the end of August. China plans to launch 150 Xinjiang international freight trains yearly by the end of this year.
Issues, such as short stock of goods, homogeneous competition, external bargain in separate ways still exsited at present. Xinjiang aims to create favorable conditions for building the hub of China-Europe cargo trains, to attract investment and push industries to shift to Xinjiang. Meanwhile, Xinjiang hope countries along the Silk Road Ecomonic Belt to join actively to build the hub of China-Europe block trains together, Peng said.
Also, Xinjiang would make Urumqi the center of westbound train lines, to deepen international cooperation with Kazakhstan and Russian rail systems, to strengthen return-trip freight management, to lower logistics operation costs, and to fully create a railway westbound logistics public service platform, making contributions to the scale development, marketization and normalization of international train lines, Shan Lijun, director with Urumqi Railway Bureau said at the Summit.
