TIANJIN, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- North China's Tianjin Municipality started construction of a Belt and Road project data base, which has included 85 projects with total investment of 180 billion yuan (about 26.1 billion U.S. dollars), according to the annual session of Tianjin Municipal People’s Congress opened on January 15.
In 2016, Tianjin announced implementation plans of participating the Belt and Road construction and international capacity cooperation. In the year, Tianjin transferred good-quality steel, chemical capacities to Pakistan, pushed ahead construction of China-Mongolia-Russia economic corridor, launched trial operation of international land goods transportation and increased seven encryption cargo routes.
In addition, Tianjin started construction of an expanded area of Suez economic and trade cooperation zone and China-Indonesia Julong Agricultural Industry Cooperation Zone built by Tianjin Julong Group was included in China’s national-level overseas economic cooperation zones.
In the draft plan of Tianjin’s economic and social development in 2017 released at the meeting, Tianjin will put more efforts to cooperate with countries and regions along the Belt and Road in international production capacity and equipment manufacturing, transfer investment and production capacity of steel, building materials and chemical industries and sign contracts of a group of key projects.
Tianjjin will continue to build the brand of China-Europe container cargo train, construct advanced manufacturing industrial parks in central Europe and expand economic relations with the Middle East. Enditem (Edited by Yang Qi, kateqiyang@xinhua.org)
