BEIJING, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- China will set up 126 monitoring stations nationwide during the 13th Five-year Plan period (2016-2020) to study the effect of air pollution on people’s health, the Shanghai Securities News quoted Ma Xiaowei, deputy head of the National Health and Family Planning Commission, as saying on Friday.
The particular matter in smog threatens people’s health and thus it is necessary for people to take defensive measures in a scientific way, said Ma, adding that the commission has been researching the correlation between smog and health.
China has launched smog risk assessment and a program on smog warning technology to indentify typical smog pollutants.
Ma also pointed out that China needs to implement a comprehensive strategy of air pollution control and improve atmospheric quality. Enditem (Edited by Yang Yifan, yangyifan@xinhua.org)
