Construction of two China-aided buildings start in Kabul University -- Afghan and Chinese authorities on October 10 launched the construction work of two China-aided buildings in Kabul University, the latest of China's assistance to the war-hit nation. Afghan Chief Executive Abdullah Abdullah and Chinese Ambassador to Afghanistan Yao Jing were among the officials attending the stone laying foundation ceremony which marked the start of construction of an Integrated Teaching Complex and an Auditorium inside the 85-year-old university.

Chinese-invested Lanmei Airlines launched in Cambodia -- Lanmei Airlines (Cambodia), a Chinese-owned airline, was launched in Cambodia on October 9 and will operate six-nation flights in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Hor Namhong and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Xiong Bo were among nearly 200 guests taking part in the launching ceremony in Phnom Penh.

Cargo train services launched between China's Shanxi, Kazakhstan -- Cargo train services began September 30 between Taiyuan, capital of north China's Shanxi Province, and Kazakhstan's Pavlodar. A train carrying 41 containers left the Zhongding Logistics Park in the morning of September 30 on a trip of 3,705 kilometers. The cargo train service between Taiyuan and Pavlodar will cut delivery time to seven days.

Cargo train services launched between China's Chengdu, Prague -- Cargo train services began September 30 between Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, and Czech capital Prague. A train carrying 41 containers, mainly television parts, departed at 3:30 p.m. from the international railway terminal in Chengdu. The cargo worth over 5 million U.S. dollars is to be delivered to a factory of Sichuan-based TV set producer Changhong in Nymburk, Czech Republic.

China Southern Airlines launches Vientiane-Guangzhou direct flight -- China Southern Airlines has officially launched a direct flight from Lao capital Vientiane to Guangzhou as part of a scheme to support China's Belt and Road Initiative.With flight code CZ 6091/6092, the flight will be operated with airbus A320 planes on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The inaugural flight with more than 140 passengers landed at Wattay International Airport in Vientiane in the evening of October 11.

New China-Europe rail-sea cargo route opens -- A new China-Europe rail-sea cargo transport route was launched on September 29 in Urumqi, capital of northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. The first train carrying Chinese goods left Urumqi on September 29, bound for the Port of Riga in Latvia, via Kazakhstan and Russia. The goods will then be transported to Rotterdam, the Netherlands, by sea.The new rail-sea route will shorten the distance by more than 1,000 kilometers and cut the transportation time from more than 20 days to just 14 days, said Liu Changlin, general manager of an international logistics company in Xinjiang.

Tidfore contracts 700MW thermal power project and industrial park facilities project in Indonesia --Tidfore Heavy Equipment Group (Tidfore) has contracted a 700MW thermal power development project with PT. Bangun Palu Sulawesi Tengah (BPST) and Korea Western Power Co., Ltd. (KOWEPO) in Palu, capital of the province of Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. In a meantime, Tidfore also inked a deal with BPST on a 1,600t/h water treatment plant, and a general terminal project with an annual throughput of 40 million tons.

CDTO’s Meulaboh project filed, approved by NDRC -- The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) had approved a 2x225MW coal-fired power generation project in Meulaboh, Indonesia, marking a significant move on the project.The project was an IPP initiative launched by Perusahaan Listrik Negara through open international bidding in October 2015. China Datang Overseas Investment Co., Ltd. (CDTO) participated in the bid and received a bid-winning notice on March 3, 2017.

WIETC signs contract for the construction of Bangladesh BRT project -- Weihai International Economic & Technical Cooperative Co., Ltd. (WIETC) signed a contract with the Bangladesh government in the capital Dhaka for the construction of part of the BRT project. The contract is worth 20 million U.S dollars. The project is invested by the Asian Development Bank and has a construction period of 18 months. The project on completion will greatly improve travel and living conditions for local residents by easing traffic pressure and upgrading surrounding facilities.

CEEC’s subsidiary, B•Grimm sign PV power station EPC contract in Thailand -- Shanxi Electric Power Engineering Co., Ltd. (SEPEC), subsidiary of China Energy Engineering Group (CEEC), signed a PV power station EPC contract with B•Grimm Power Public Company Limited (B•Grimm) in Thailand. The project is designed to have a total installed capacity of 40.83MW, and is expected to be integrated into the grid in December 2018.
