China's leading aluminum producer buys in German plant -- China Zhongwang Holding on September 13 announced the acquisition of a German aluminum producer in its latest effort to grab a share in the global aircraft aluminum market. The deal via a solely-owned subsidiary is the company's first overseas purchase and allows it to own a 99.72-percent stake of Aluminiumwerk Unna AG, a medium-sized aluminum plant in Unna. The value has yet to be disclosed.
Chinese multinational banking company ICBC Prague branch opens for business -- The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC), one of China's "Big Four" state-owned commercial banks, officially launched its Prague branch in the capital of the Czech Republic on September 12. Present at the opening ceremony were Jiri Rusnok, Governor of Czech's central bank, Gu Shu, President of ICBC, also the largest bank in the world by total assets, and Ma Keqing, Chinese Ambassador to Czech.

Hainan Airlines launches Shanghai-Tel Aviv flights -- A Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner carrying 240 passengers landed at Ben Gurion Airport this morning at 7:36 a.m. local time (0436 GMT), ending the virgin flight of Hainan Airlines' new Shanghai-Tel Aviv route. Beginning on Sept. 12, Hainan Airlines will be flying three times a week -- on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays -- between Shanghai and Tel Aviv, the first direct flight between Israel and the economic capital of China.

StarTimes Media Kenya Director of Brand Marketing and Public Relations Japheth Akhulia told Xinhua in Nairobi that the project will connect about 10,000 African villages with free digital television service.
Chinese aero-engine manufacturer shows high-end models at expo -- Aero Engine Corporation of China (AECC), the country's leading state-owned aircraft engine manufacturer, will show its high-end products at the upcoming Aviation Expo China 2017. The company will exhibit its major achievements in promoting integrated military and civilian development at the expo, which will be held in Beijing from Sept. 19 to 22, according to the AECC. It will exhibit one aircraft engine, two gas turbines, as well as two patented technologies of graphene material and high precision aluminum alloy.
Xiaomi rolls out updated full-screen display smartphone -- Chinese tech giant Xiaomi launched an updated version of its full-screen display smartphone Sept. 11, continuing to offer a larger-than-average screen-to-body ratio. The Mi MIX 2 is smaller in size than the company's first full-screen display smartphone the Mi MIX, which has a 17:9 aspect ratio screen. The Mi MIX 2 has a 18:9 full screen display, making the screen look like it almost entirely fills the front surface. The updated version also has a hidden speaker and a stronger ultrasonic proximity sensor.
