China's Caixin manufacturing PMI hits six-month high -- A Chinese manufacturing index expanded to its highest in six months in August, a private survey showed on September 1. The Caixin China General Manufacturing Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) stood at 51.6 for August, up from 51.1 in July, according to the survey conducted by financial information service provider Markit and sponsored by Caixin Media.The index was the highest since February. The index registered 51.7 in February.

China Caixin service PMI hits three-month high -- China's service sector growth accelerated in August, hitting a three-month high, a private survey showed on September 5. The Caixin General Services Purchasing Managers' Index rose to 52.7 in August from July's 51.5, according to the survey conducted by financial information service provider Markit and sponsored by Caixin Media. A reading above 50 indicates expansion.

China's west sees increased trade with BRICS countries -- Latest statistics from the customs bureau in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, show that the region has seen increased trade with BRICS countries this year. The international trade volume between the west China region and its neighbor Russia reached 560 million U.S. dollars during the January-July period, an increase of 25.9 percent year on year, while trade with India hit 220 million U.S. dollars, up 57.7 percent and with Brazil exceeded 70 million U.S. dollars, up 228.6 percent, according to Urumqi Customs. Exports to Russia are primarily made up of farm produce such as vegetables and processed foods like tomato sauce, while exports to India and Brazil are dominated by synthetic products, including PVC.

China's August CPI forecast at about 1.7 pct -- China's consumer price index (CPI) growth for August is expected to be between 1.5 to 1.7 percent, according to the Bank of Communications. The August CPI, a main gauge of inflation, is due to be released by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on September 9. A rise in food prices in August may push up CPI growth, as food prices account for nearly one-third of the CPI, said Tang Jianwei, the bank's chief analyst.

22 Chinese firms debut on "new third board" -- China's National Equities Exchange and Quotation (NEEQ), also known as the "new third board," saw 22 new small and medium-sized enterprises last week. The newcomers brought the total number of companies on the board to 11,551, official data showed. Turnover on the board stood at 4.27 billion yuan (about 648 million U.S. dollars) last week, up 34.11 percent from the previous week. NEEQ was launched in early 2013 to supplement the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges in serving small and medium-sized enterprises.

China mobile payments maintain rapid growth -- Mobile payments are gaining popularity in China as cashless transactions take hold in the country, central bank data showed on September 5. Chinese banks dealt with 8.6 billion payments from mobile services in Q2, up 40.5 percent from a year ago, the People's Bank of China said in a report. The combined value of mobile payments jumped 33.8 percent to 39.24trillion yuan (6 trillion U.S. dollars). Online transactions through non-bank payment platforms came in at 31.49 trillion yuan, rising 34.9 percent from the same period last year.

Foreign trade deals worth 837 mln USD inked at China-Northeast Asia Expo -- Some 837 million U.S. dollars in foreign trade deals were signed at the China-Northeast Asia Expo which closed September 5 in Changchun, capital of northeast China's Jilin Province. The five-day event drew more than 100,000 attendees from over 110 countries and regions, said Li Jinxiu, director of the expo's executive committee. Domestic trade deals worth 2.45 billion yuan (375 million U.S. dollars) were signed during the expo, said Li, also vice governor of Jilin.

China's patent operations more than 170,000 in 2016 -- The number of China's patent operations stood at more than 170,000 in 2016, a year-on-year increase of nearly 20 percent, according to the latest data from the Patent Information Annual Conference of China 2017 held in Beijing from Sept. 5 to 6. Patent operations include patent transfer, license and pledge.

China's IT, Internet industry prospers -- China's IT and Internet industry continued to prosper in 2016 thanks to a better business environment and technological innovation, according to a report of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). Total revenues of major IT and Internet companies reached 17 trillion yuan (about 2.6 trillion U.S. dollars), 1.55 times that of the 2012, the latest official data showed. This represents 11.6 percent annual growth from 2012 to 2016, with the electronics manufacturing and software sectors leading growth by expanding 9.5 percent and 18.1 percent respectively.

China needs 7,240 new planes in next 20 years: Boeing forecast -- China is expected to need 7,240 new planes over the next 20 years, valued at nearly 1.1 trillion U.S. dollars, said Boeing in its latest market outlook, released Wednesday in Beijing. China's fleet size is expected to grow at a pace faster than the world average. Almost 20 percent of global new airplane demand will be from airlines based in the country, said Boeing in its annual China Current Market Outlook (CMO). Boeing has projected a global demand of 41,030 new commercial airplanes over the next 20 years, valued at 6.1 trillion U.S. dollars.
