Hong Kong logistics start-up merges with mainland freight business -- Hong Kong logistics startup GOGOVAN said on August 29 that it has merged with 58 Suyun, a unit under the Chinese mainland's largest intracity logistics platform 58 Home, making it a leading intracity logistics platform in Asia. The merger will expand GOGOVAN's service area on the mainland, covering over 110 cities, with more than 1.2 million registered drivers in its network.
A Poly Pharmaceuticals product approved for sale in the UK market -- Hainan Poly Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd released an announcement on August 29 that its British customer confirmed approval by the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for the sales application for its new drug Ganciclovir sodium (API +preparation) for injection. This approval by MHRA marks the Poly Pharmaceuticals’ qualification to sell the products in the UK market, and it will have a positive impact on the company’s further expansion into the European market.
UnionPay International starts all-round cooperation with Belarus's largest commercial bank -- UnionPay International and Belarus's largest commercial bank Belarus Bank signed a comprehensive cooperation agreement in Minsk, capital city of Belarus. According to the agreement, the two sides agreed that all the ATMs and merchants will accept the UnionPay cards in 2018, and will cooperate in the local issuance of the card and the promotion of innovative UnionPay products.
China's bike sharing system to be launched in Vienna -- China's station-free bicycle-sharing-system is to be launched in Vienna, capital of Austria, on August 27, the Beijing-based Chinese bicycle sharing company, Ofo, told Xinhua on August 25. Ofo told Xinhua, after evaluation, due to conveniences for bike riders in the city, Vienna is chosen as the first city in mainland European countries to initiate the pilot project of the station-free bike-sharing-system.
CW Bearing opens in Detroit -- China's leading maker of ball bearings now has a facility near the center of the US automotive industry. CW Bearing USA, a subsidiary of China's Cixing Group Co Ltd, held a grand opening for its headquarters and technical center in Northville Township, Michigan, on August 25. China's Alibaba, IOC to build 'Olympic cloud' for young fans -- Heads of Chinese e-commerce titan Alibaba and the International Olympic Committee (IOC) met in Hangzhou to discuss ways of using cloud services to engage young fans around the globe. Alibaba signed a deal with the IOC earlier this year to become its partner for cloud computing and e-commerce through to 2028. Alibaba is China's largest e-commerce company, operating the country's most popular online shopping site taobao.com.
China confident to get new UK nuclear power plant approval after Hinkley -- The Chinese company which takes one third of stakes in the French-led Hinkley Point C project in Britain expects a new China-led nuclear power plant to get approval from the British government. Robert Davies, chief operating officer of the General Nuclear International, a UK subsidiary of China's Shenzhen-based General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGN), told Xinhua on August 25 that he is "very confident" with the China-developed third-generation HPR1000 nuclear reactor getting through the ongoing government assessment.
