CCCC signs USD 170 mln contract for automated terminal -- China Communications Construction Company, Ltd. (CCCC) has signed an EPC contract with Abu Dhabi Oceangate Container Terminal LLC for the automated terminal of the storage yard of the second phase of Abu Dhabi’s Khalifa Port. Abu Dhabi Oceangate Container Terminal LLC is a subsidiary of China COSCO Shipping Corporation, Ltd. According to CCCC, implementation of this contract will not only have a positive influence on its performance, but will also help maintain its coverage in the global port machinery market and effectively improve its brand influence.

Wail tunnel of Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway officially starts construction -- The Wail tunnel of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway started construction in Wail, West Java Indonesia, on July 15, 2017. With a total length of 608 meters, the tunnel is located at the 95th kilometer to the 96th kilometer section of the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed railway. China Railway Group Limited is the contractor to build the tunnel. The double-track tunnel project is expected to be completed within one year.

China's Sany partners with Malaysian firm for construction plant -- China's Sany Group announced its partnership with Malaysian construction company ML Global on July 17, which will see the two set up a joint venture (JV) to make precast concrete panels. According to a memorandum of understanding signed between the two parties, Sany will hold 49 percent while ML hold 51 percent in the JV. The first phase of the plant, which is expected to be capable of producing about 2,000 apartment units per year, will cost up to 40 million ringgit (9.3 million U.S. dollars), and will be initiated in the town of Nilai in Negeri Sembilan within the next six months.

Sino-Mexican consortium wins oilfield exploration contract in Mexico -- A consortium of one Chinese and two Mexican companies on July 12 won a contract to explore and extract hydrocarbons from a field in eastern Mexico. The consortium, which consists of three companies - China's Shandong Kerui, and Mexico's Sicoval MX and Nuevas Soluciones - obtained the contract for Area Six, a field of 193 square kilometers in the Veracruz oil belt, which has potential to provide liquefied gas.

Sisi mulls with Chinese firms to build fast tram around Cairo -- Egyptian President Sisi met a coalition of Chinese firms Tuesday over building a light rail transit around Cairo. China's AVIC International and China Railway Group Limited are jointly in charge of carrying out the project. The aspired light rail is a fast tram expected to cover a distance of 66 km with 11 stops, connecting the new administrative capital city with distant districts of Greater Cairo. The Chinese group said it would assign Egyptian contractors with some civil and railway construction works that will provide thousands of job opportunities in the country.

Lao company to invest 280 mln USD in Vietnamese seaport development project -- A Lao company is investing 280 million U.S. dollars in a project to develop Vung Ang seaport in Vietnam's central Ha Tinh province to boost logistics and infrastructure and benefit Laos, neighboring Thailand and Vietnam, the state-run media reported on July 18. The Lao government has approved a move by the Petroleum Trading Lao Public Company (PTL), one of Laos' leading private companies, and Lao Logistics State Enterprise to jointly establish the Vung Ang seaport Development Company Limited.

Saudi planned Industrial Energy City project to spur economic growth, create jobs -- Saudi Arabia aims to boost its economic growth and create more jobs through a grand project to build the Industrial Energy City in the Eastern Region, a government official said on July 16. The project will localize industries supporting the energy sector related to oil exploration, production and refining, petrochemicals, conventional electric power, water production and treatment.

China completes Beijing-Xinjiang desert freeway sections -- Three new sections of freeway, mostly in desert areas, were put into use on July 15, marking the completion of a 2,768 km freeway between Beijing and northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. With a length of 930 km, the Inner Mongolia section is the longest freeway project in China. The Gansu section is 134 km long and the Xinjiang section is 178 km long.

Guizhou secures USD1 bln Apple cloud center -- Apple Inc will invest 1 billion U.S. dollars to build its first China data center in Guizhou province, in a move to meet local consumers' growing demand for better cloud services. The move is part of a deal Apple signed with the Guizhou provincial government on July 12 and came as the US tech giant intensifies resources to compete with local rivals. (Source: China Daily)
