Wandabuys key site in S. London -- Chinese real estategiant Wanda closed a 470 million pound (USD600 million) deal to buy a majorpiece of land in South London's Nine Elms area on June 21, the latest in aseries of key Chinese investments in London property. The 4.05 hectare plot, Nine Elms Square,has already received outline planning permission for the construction of 1,821apartments in three high-rise buildings that will each have between 32 and 54floors. The consent was obtained by British company VINCI St. Modwen, whichthen sold the land on to Wanda.  (Source: China Daily)

Gasgiant Santos enters new strategic partnershipwith Chinese investors -- One of Australia's largest natural gas producers, Santos, has launched a newstrategic partnership with existing Chinese shareholders on June 27. The twoChinese interests, ENN Group and Hony Capital hold a combined 15.1-percentstake in Santos, and the new arrangement will see "mutual cooperation andassistance" from both sides to spur the growth-based strategy in Australiaand Papua New Guinea currently being adopted by the gas giant.(Source: China Daily)

Chinesecompany, IBM partner for better cancer treatment --Baheal Pharm, a Chinese company that focuses on e-health, signed a partnershipagreement with IBM in Beijing on June 21 tointroduce Watson for Genomics to medical institutions in China. Watsonfor Genomics, a cognitive computing platform for more precise treatment ofcancer patients, will help doctors to better identify mutations in cancer thatare potentially treatable and provide doctors with treatment options, accordingto IBM Watson Health. Speaking at its official launch, President Magufulicommended the Chinese investors for choosingTanzania as their investmentdestination in the east African region, calling other foreign investors tofollow suit.

China's Alipay enters Spain -- Chinesetourists will be able to use Alipay mobile wallet inSpainthanks to an agreement signed between Spanish bank BBVA andChina's AntFinancial Services Group, BBVA reported on June 27. Alipay is one of world'slargest online and mobile payment platforms operated by Ant Financial Services,an affiliate company of Alibaba. BBVA,Spain's second-largest bank, is thefirst Spanish financial institution to cooperate with Alipay, integrating thesystem into the bank's Smartpay service.
