Chinese firm to build new industrial park in Ethiopia -- China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) is to build an industrial park in the resort city of Bahir Dar, 552 km north of Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa at a cost of 60 million dollars. The agreement was signed in Addis Ababa June 9 between Chief Executive Officer of the Ethiopia Industrial Park Development Corporation (IPDC) Sisay Gemechu and Li Wuliang, general manager of CCECC Ethiopia. This will be the first industrial park to be constructed in Bahir Dar, capital city of Amhara regional state well known for its lakeside attractions and as a center for conference tourism.

Alibaba to build two data centers overseas – Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Alibaba, plans to build two data centers in India and Indonesia by the end of next March, as the internet giant speeds up its transition from a pure e-commerce player to a comprehensive technology firm with growing overseas outreach. With the planned facilities in Mumbai and Jakarta, Alibaba Cloud will increase its total number of data center locations to 17, covering countries such as Australia, Germany, Japan and the United States, said Simon Hu, president of the business unit. Alibaba's archrival Tencent Holdings Ltd said in April it would more than double the number of its offshore data centers to eight, and pledged to use cloud technologies to revolutionize industries from manufacturing to retail. Shanghai opens port for live seafood trade -- A cargo vessel carrying more than 50 tonnes of king crabs from Russia arrived at the Hengsha port in Shanghai on June 12, marking the opening of the city's first port specializing in the trade of live seafood products. With the opening of Hengsha port, the products can be shipped directly to Shanghai in six days. Hengsha port features a 2,500-square-meter pool equipped with a seawater circulation system and a water temperature control system for temporarily holding imported live aquatic animals before they enter the market.

Freight train route links Vietnam, southwest China -- A cargo train heading for Vietnam left Kunming, capital of southwest China's Yunnan Province on June 12, an opening of a new route. The train will travel 854 kilometers in four to six days to the port city of Hai Phong, carrying mainly ore and raw materials for the chemical industry in 32 containers, according to the Jinlai Shunfa international logistics company. Experts hope that the new route could help boost communication and exchanges between Yunnan and Vietnam.

Passenger liner to sail from south China to Nha Trang in Vietnam -- Southern China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region will open a luxury cruise line between Fangchenggang Port to Da Nang and Nha Trang in Vietnam. The passenger liner will start service on Aug. 29 and is expected to extend to Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia in the future, said the region's tourism development commission June 11. The international luxury ship, exclusively invested and operated by China, is over 180 meters long and 25 meters wide. The 24,500-tonne ship can hold 960 passengers.

Huayuan Property, Joy City partner up for new mall collaboration-- Beijing-based real estate company Huayuan Property Co Ltd joined hands with Joy City, a commercial brand under the COFCO Property (Group) Co, on June 12. The first collaboration between Huayuan and Joy City will build the third Joy City shopping mall in Shijingshan district of Beijing. Targeting young consumers, the Shijingshan project will be located in west Beijing, combining a shopping mall, high end office building and parking lot. The project is scheduled to start this year and be completed by 2019. (Source: China Daily)

Continental to open R&D facility in Chongqing -- German tech company Continental will open a research facility in Southwest China's Chongqing in 2018 to meet carmakers' rising demands in the western part of the country. The 280 million yuan ($41.21 million) research and development center, which began construction with a groundbreaking ceremony on June 8, will mainly focus on electrical, mechanical engineering, software development as well as test capabilities for automotive electronics and new energy vehicles.

China starts building large private coal-to-liquid project -- Work began on indirect coal-to-liquid (CTL) project with an annual output of 2 million tonnes in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

The indirect coal liquefaction line is located in Zhungeer county in Ordos City. It is operated by Inner Mongolia Yitai Group Co. Ltd, a private firm. At a cost of 29 billion yuan (about 4.2 billion U.S. dollars), it is expected to produce 2.15 million tons of oil products each year, including diesel, naphtha, liquefied petroleum gas and liquefied natural gas.
