The 20th Asian Games came to a close on Oct. 4 in Nagoya, Japan, as China once again topped the gold medal table. Off the field, Weihai Shanhua Carpet Group saw its carpets installed in the Games' core venues, training grounds and official areas, representing a quiet display of "Made in Weihai" craftsmanship.
The Asian Games set strict standards for facility safety, environmental protection and appearance, and therefore screened suppliers rigorously. The company, based in east China's Shandong Province, won the bid on the strength of years of accumulated quality-control experience, with every indicator meeting strict testing standards. After winning the bid, sampling, testing, production and shipment were all completed in nine months.
In Shanhua's showroom, four customized carpets for the Games combine purple, gold, green and red in a landscape-painting-like design, with arcs and circles abstracting natural imagery in a blend of modern aesthetics and Eastern subtlety.
Vivid in color and rich in texture, this carpet resists wear and slipping, retards flame spread and reduces noise, while its green, low-carbon materials echo the green concept of the Games. The design expresses the idea of Asian people uniting toward a shared future.
Such international events put to test full-chain quality control of production, a capability Shanhua has demonstrated across various regions and sectors. In recent years, the company has delivered 3,600 square meters of handmade luxury carpets to the royal family of the United Arab Emirates, outfitted cruise ships, won an 80,000-square-meter Axminster carpet contract for Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport Terminal 3, secured cooperation with Disney IP-themed hotels, and more. This year, it has also made deliveries to Cambodia, Laos and New Zealand.
After a steady third quarter with fast-growing overseas orders, all the company's production lines are now running at full capacity, with orders booked through year-end. The company is confident of achieving its annual targets, according to Chen Mingbo, deputy general manager of the group, pledging strict quality control for on-time delivery.
