TASHKENT, May 7 (Xinhua Silk Road) -- Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences (CRAES) and Uzbekistan's environment authority have agreed to sign a Memorandum of Cooperation to establish an institutional framework for long-term collaboration.
According to a news release published by the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, the memorandum to be signed is expected to cover a range of strategic areas, including joint research on air quality protection, the rollout of environmental monitoring and digital control systems, specialist exchange programmes, cooperation in combating desertification and the further development of environmental risk assessment and management mechanisms.
The agreement of signing the memorandum was reached during a recent meeting held between Abdukhakimov Aziz Abdukaxarovich, chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, and a delegation from the CRAES.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed issues regarding deepening bilateral cooperation to improve air quality, strengthen environmental sustainability and introduce advanced environmental solutions.
CRAES representatives presented China's implementation of reforms in air quality management on the meeting, including digital monitoring systems, mechanisms to curb industrial emissions, and tools for assessing and managing air quality.
It is learned that the cooperation between the two sides will be an important step in advancing Uzbekistan's "Green Development" strategy, improving air quality and creating a safer and more sustainable environment for the population.
