BEIJING, Dec. 10 (Xinhua) -- The National Health Management Conference and Ningde Health Industry Forum was held in Ningde, southeast China's Fujian Province, on December 6, aiming to promote high-quality development of the health industry and inject impetus into the regional health economy.
The conference focused on five main topics, namely healthy food, health and wellness tourism, biomedicine, health equipment, and digital and intelligent health services. It not only provided a high-end platform for technological communication and resource sharing among industry participants, but also advanced industrial standardization upgrading, whole-chain integration and projects cooperation for Ningde's health industry.
As a coastal city in northeast Fujian, Ningde enjoys unique advantages in developing the health industry. It boasts one of the best coastal ecological environments in China with a forest coverage rate of nearly 70 percent. It is a renowned production area for large yellow croakers and white tea, and is home to as many as 1,138 varieties of Chinese medicinal herbs. The medical and health culture of the She ethic minority in the region also has a long history.
Through measures including policy guidance, resource integration, government-enterprise collaboration, and industry-university-research cooperation, Ningde has been continuously accelerating transformation of its ecological strengths into industrial and economic advantages to foster health industry clusters, making the industry a pillar for the local economy.
In recent years, Ningde has pushed forward in-depth integration of the health industry with various fields including medical care, manufacturing, elderly care, tourism and digital technology, in an effort to build an integrated "illness prevention-medical treatment-wellness-elderly care" ecological chain.
Zhang Yongning, the Secretary of the CPC Ningde Municipal Committee, said that Ningde has included the health industry into its modern industrial system. Supported by six major projects, including technological innovation, talent cultivation and introduction, digital-intelligent integration, enterprises cultivation, ecological collaboration and business environment, Ningde's health industry has entered a fast track of development.
A series of significant achievements was unveiled at the opening ceremony, including a blue book regarding the role of active health in promoting the development of health management industry, and group standards related to health services and health management.
