DAR ES SALAAM, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- China's Ministry of Commerce and National Health Commission on Sunday officially opened a training program on cervical cancer screening in Tanzania's Zanzibar, backed by the 35th Chinese medical team stationed in the archipelago.
Li Qianghua, consul general of the Chinese Consulate General in Zanzibar, said the program reflects the deep friendship and medical cooperation between China and Tanzania and demonstrates China's commitment to building a global community of health for all.
He expressed hope that the training would boost Zanzibar's capacity in cervical cancer prevention and control.
Zanzibar Ministry of Health official Mngereza Mzee Miraji thanked China for its long-standing medical assistance, noting that the program addresses an urgent need for women's health protection in Zanzibar and serves as a bridge for deeper exchanges and mutual learning.
Gynecology experts Han Liwei and Liu Huiling joined the teaching team, while medical team leader Bao Zengtao coordinated all preparations to ensure smooth implementation.
Bao noted that the program combines theoretical instruction with hands-on practice to provide targeted professional development for local healthcare workers.
