BEIJING, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on Tuesday met with Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister Sun Chanthol in Beijing.
Wang, who is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, said that China stands ready to work with Cambodia, under the guidance of the strategic consensus of the two countries' leaders, to strengthen high-level exchange and enhance mutual trust.
Wang called on the two sides to accelerate the implementation of cooperation projects in various fields, make good use of the planning of the "Industrial Development Corridor" and the "Fish and Rice Corridor," and deliver more visible outcomes.
The two countries have always firmly supported each other on issues concerning their respective core interests, Wang said, adding that both China and Cambodia oppose certain countries' unilateral bullying practices and coercing the world with tariffs.
Chanthol expressed Cambodia's gratitude to China for its long-term, invaluable support and assistance. Cambodia will continue to firmly advance high-quality Belt and Road cooperation with China, and steadily promote the development of an all-weather Cambodia-China community with a shared future in the new era, he said.
The two sides also exchanged views on the conflict along the border between Cambodia and Thailand. Wang expressed hope that Cambodia and Thailand will seize opportunities to accelerate the reconciliation process, adding that China stands ready to provide assistance based on the willingness of both sides.
Chanthol thanked China for the important role it is playing in the matter, and expressed Cambodia's willingness to resolve its dispute with Thailand through dialogue and negotiation as soon as possible.
