BEIJING, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co. has promoted the digital transformation of equipment management in recent years by adopting sensing terminals and AI algorithms to ensure safety of the power system in east China's Zhejiang Province.
On September 2, State Grid Hangzhou Electric Power Supply Co. carried out an inspection at a transformer substation by using an intelligent inspection system, which collects data from sensing terminals such as cameras, drones and robots, and integrates advanced intelligent algorithms such as AI judgment, data analysis, and image recognition to identify potential risks of the transformer substation.
Within one and a half hours, the system completed the inspection of 6,711 check points for 501 types of power equipment at the 220-kilovolt transformer substation and generated a report after the inspection with accuracy rate at 98 percent.
The system has been widely applied in the power system in Zhejiang. For example, over 45 percent of the transformer substations in Hangzhou, capital city of Zhejiang, have deployed the system, and the inspection efficiency has been increased by 80 percent compared with the past.
