BEIJING, Aug. 12 (Xinhua) -- North China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region attracted 285.2 billion yuan of investment across 3,186 projects in the first half of this year, up 28.4 percent year on year, according to data from the regional department of commerce.
The growth could be attributed to targeted efforts to optimize the business environment, which facilitated progress in regional coordinated development, cultivation of new quality productive forces, and investment in key industries.
In the first half of this year, Baotou City, Ordos City, and Hohhot City each attracted more than 40 billion yuan of investment, while Chifeng City secured over 30 billion yuan. Total investment amount of these four cities accounted for nearly 60 percent of the autonomous region's total investment.
Inner Mongolia saw an accelerated transformation in its industrial structure. From January to June, investment in its secondary industry reached 216.8 billion yuan, up 21.5 percent year on year, while that in the tertiary industry soared 33.4 percent year on year to 63.5 billion yuan. To foster new quality productive forces, the region boosted investment in cutting-edge sectors such as airport economy, green hydrogen, and nuclear energy, with 14 newly signed low-altitude economy projects alone bringing in 1.97 billion yuan of capital.
Ten major industrial clusters, spanning modern equipment manufacturing, renewable energy, advanced materials, innovative chemicals, eco-friendly agricultural and livestock product processing, biomanufacturing, and modern services, attracted approximately 178 billion yuan in the first half of 2025. This represented a 62.4 percent share in the total investment and reflected a 9.5 percent year-on-year increase. More specifically, renewable energy, advanced materials, digital economy and modern service clusters introduced 76.18 billion yuan, 29.22 billion yuan, 12.12 billion yuan, and 16.64 billion yuan of investment, respectively.
To enhance high-quality investment attraction, Inner Mongolia is developing international cooperation platforms, including the upcoming Fifth China-Mongolia Expo and the Third Economic and Trade Fair for China's Northward Opening-up.
